Abstract(s)
Living with a wound affects people's life quality, regardless of its etiology. It becomes emerging to study ways to lessen this impact on the life of the person with the wound. One of the possible treatments for ulcers of the lower limb is the use of the amniotic membrane, but it is still little known. The treatment with the amniotic membrane has been a great bet, by the promise of a significant improvement in the quality of human life. It has various biological properties such as reduction of bacterial load and the promotion of healing of infected wounds. Its specificity is not to induce immunological rejection after transplantation because it does not express the histocompatibility antigens, becoming a graft option. In this sense, the use of this resource in the treatment of ulcers of the lower limb appears as a starting point for a series of cases of venous ulcers treated with the use of amniotic membrane. For this our sample consists of five people with venous ulcer and who accepted to participate in the study. The protocol was treated and the intervention was monitored. Three of the subjects in the sample had healing, and the remaining two participants had an improvement during the intervention phase but without complete healing. Writing the results of pain, reducing the area of the wound such suggests the need for further studies to ensure its effectiveness.
