Abstract(s)
reflectir acerca do texto escrito.
Education has suffered, over time, profound changes. The role of the teacher has been changing, following these changes. We have approached the different School Models having as important that one can’t neglect the role of the teacher in these different models. Presenting the Traditional School in opposition to the Modern School was one of our proposals having as important that the function of the teacher has been changing and changing. From a traditional school where the student had a passive activity, one went to a "school educational community" where each and every one has a role to play. The teacher has passed from mere transmitter of knowledge to a mentor of new learning and the student has become an element that acquires the necessary skills to learn throughout his life. Now a days to be or not to be reader implies, from the outset, to establish relations with the concept of literacy in reading so that this one can become a project in the life of the students. Therefore, it is up to the school to provide an integrative education and play a social and civic role that contributes to the formation of autonomous and interventional citizens. It is necessary for students to acquire skills to understand and reflect on written text. The challenges imposed by the current and ever changing society make it urgent to motivate students to the process of teaching and learning as well as reading that will be an added value not only in the defense of the Portuguese language but also for the transformation of students in competent and critical readers, capable of interacting socially and, consequently, citizens with full rights.
