INTRODUÇÃO: A pessoa com doença avançada e prognóstico limitado vive
uma experiência multidimensional e dinâmica de stress severo.
O desconforto emocional experienciado pelos doentes em fim de vida
poderá desencadear nos mesmos, um estado de elevado sofrimento que
poderá esgotar os seus recursos e como conseguinte poderá desencadear
sintomas refratários.
Assim, a avaliação do mal-estar emocional deverá ser uma prioridade, de
forma a identificar e intervir precocemente nos doentes que necessitam e, para
isso, é necessário ter instrumentos de validade e confiabilidade comprovados.
MATERIAL E MÉTODO: Na presente dissertação expor-se-á o processo de
validação linguística do DME para a língua portuguesa de Portugal, para tal foi
pedido autorização ao autor original do Cuestionário de Deteccíon de Malestar
Emocional.
RESULTADOS: Procedeu-se à tradução do instrumento original para a
língua portuguesa de Portugal, obtendo equivalência conceptual e semântica.
Contruíu-se uma versão do instrumento pronta a ser utilizada nas fases
seguintes do processo de validação.
CONCLUSÃO: Com a conclusão do presente estudo obteve-se uma versão
do DME com equivalência linguística e semântica, para em fase posterior ser
sujeita a validação psicométrica.

Also, the assessment of emotional ill-being must be a priority, in order to identify and intervene early on two people who need, in order to do so, are necessary to have proven validation and reliability instruments. MATERIAL AND METHOD: This is the presentation of the DME language validation process for the Portuguese language of Portugal, for which authorization was requested from the original author of the Emotional Distress Detection Questionnaire. RESULTS: The original instrument is translated into the Portuguese language of Portugal, obtaining conceptual and semantic equivalence. A version of the instrument is built ready to be used in the following phases of the validation process. CONCLUSION: At the conclusion of the present study, a version of DME is obtained with linguistic and semantic equivalence, to be subject to psychometric validation in the later phase.
