| dc.description.abstract | A presente investigação tem como tema a felicidade dos idosos e como objeto empírico de pesquisa as representações dos idosos institucionalizados sobre a felicidade, o qual se inscreve, em termos teóricos, na problemática da articulação entre os conhecimentos gerontológicos e as ciências sociais. Os idosos e as suas famílias encaram hoje o recurso a instituições geriátricas como uma decisão repleta de dilemas. Procuram-se, nestes contextos institucionais, espaços onde a população idosa possa receber conforto, segurança, cuidados médicos e cuidados de higiene. Mas este quadro institucional apresenta também exigências e limitações impondo aos internados um processo de adaptação ao meio. Os lares de idosos, como instituições totais que são, possuem à partida uma cultura específica, um conjunto de regras e de princípios, e no seu interior os idosos adotam atitudes e comportamentos que importa conhecer. Tendo em conta as situações de dependência física e mental que levaram estes idosos a serem institucionalizados, importa apreender a condição de “internado” e compreender como se constroem as suas representações acerca da felicidade, tendo em conta as narrativas de si, num contexto de perda de autonomia, perda de papéis e de vínculos sociais. Este trabalho pretende contribuir para o desenvolvimento do conhecimento da intervenção social num lar, podendo desta forma melhorar a qualidade de vida dos idosos internados. Situando-nos numa abordagem qualitativa dos fenómenos, serão analisados os discursos de seis idosos internados num Centro Social Paroquial em Lisboa, usando privilegiadamente as narrativas das suas trajetórias biográficas como forma de apreender o significado dado pelos sujeitos aos seus próprios contextos. Toda a informação recolhida foi alvo de tratamento qualitativo através de uma análise da narrativa dos entrevistados. | por |
| dc.description.abstract | This investigation has as its theme the happiness of the elderly and as an object of empirical research representations of happiness of institutionalized elderly, which is inscribed, in theoretical terms, in the problem of coordination between the gerontological knowledge and social sciences. Seniors and their families face the use of geriatric institutions as a decision fraught with dilemmas. They look in these institutional contexts, for spaces where the elderly can receive comfort, safety, medical care and hygiene. But this institutional framework also presents requirements and limitations imposed admitted to a process of adaptation to the context. Nursing homes, as total institutions that are starting to have a specific culture, a set of rules and principles, and within the elderly adopt attitudes and behaviors that must be known. Taking into account the situations of physical and mental dependence that led elderly to be institutionalized, it matters to apprehend the condition of being "inmate" and understand how they construct their representations of happiness, taking into account the narratives of themselves, in the context of loss of autonomy, loss of roles and social bonds. This work intends to contribute for development of the social intervention knowledge in an nursing home, thus may increasing the life quality of the elderly inmates. Standing in a qualitative approach of the phenomena will be analyzed speeches of six elderly persons in a Parish Social Centre in Lisbon, using privileged narratives of their biographical trajectories in order to grasp the meaning given by the subjects to their own contexts.
