Abstract(s)
Com o presente documento procura-se entender o papel do Serviço Social na construção, avaliação e redefinição de políticas sociais. Não menosprezando o caráter administrativo na aplicação das medidas de política social, encara-se a dimensão política como parte integrante da prática profissional, descurada ou privilegiada pelos assistentes sociais, pretendendo-se compreender a influência que a atividade primordial à promoção da justiça social – a policy practice do Serviço Social – mantém na relação com as políticas sociais.
Para a concretização dos objetivos delineados, procuram-se estudar os fatores (internos e externos à profissão) que determinam a influência dos assistentes sociais na construção, avaliação e redefinição das políticas sociais, refletindo-se também sobre a consciência dos profissionais sobre a presença ou a ausência desta atividade no quotidiano profissional e sobre a atuação destes, direta ou indiretamente, nos níveis de política social. Ainda, faz-se alusão aos desafios e às oportunidades do Serviço Social para uma intervenção, mais clara e organizada, nas medidas de política social que influenciam a realidade social.
This paper seeks to understand the role of Social Work in the construction, evaluation and redefinition of social policies. Not neglecting the administrative nature of the implementation of social policy measures, the political dimension is seen as an integral part of professional practice, neglected or privileged by social workers, aiming to understand the influence that the primordial activity to the promotion of social justice – the policy practice of Social Work – maintains in relation with social policies. To achieve the objectives outlined, we seek to study the factors (internal and external to the profession) that determine the influence of social workers in the construction, evaluation and redefinition of social policies, reflecting also on the professionals’ awareness about the presence or absence of this activity in daily professional life and about their performance, directly or indirectly, at the levels of social policy. It also refers to the challenges and opportunities of Social Service for a clearer and more organized intervention in social policy measures that influence social reality.
