This internship report, prepared within the scope of the Master's Degree in Nursing with a Specialisation in Child and Paediatric Health Nursing at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa, aims to describe and critically analyse the competencies acquired and developed during the practical training period. The document reflects the integration of theoretical knowledge with clinical practice, highlighting the application of child- and family-centred nursing principles in diverse healthcare contexts. The internship took place in a care-based setting, totalling 840 hours of activities. It was conducted between 18 September and 20 December 2024 in a Primary Health Care context, within a Community Care Unit, including a placement in a Family Health Unit. The relevance of prior professional experience is underscored as a significant element in this training path, which enabled the early acquisition of specific competencies in the field of Child and Paediatric Health Nursing. The internship objectives were defined in line with the competencies outlined in the study plan and were achieved through carefully planned activities and a critical-reflective analysis centred on the provision of care to children and families. The process was guided by the four fundamental domains of nursing practice: care provision, care management, education, and research. Key topics include communication, partnership in care, parenting, child and adolescent health promotion, and paediatric basic life support. The critical reflection on observed and performed practices demonstrates a continued commitment to improving the quality of care provided.
