Abstract(s)
Este trabalho procura compreender as competências de liderança que os liderados mais valorizam nos seus líderes, bem como a associação entre essas competências e os fatores motivacionais dos liderados. Através de entrevistas semiestruturadas, inquirimos uma amostra de 64 indivíduos da Auchan Retail Portugal, na loja da Maia. Os principais resultados do estudo reiteram aquilo que a literatura tem sugerido: a eficácia da liderança depende, em grande medida, de competências que não são de natureza técnica. Acessibilidade e apoio em momentos críticos, inovação da comunicação e motivação da equipa foram os comportamentos mais mencionados dos líderes. Tendo sido as competências sociais-relacionais as mais citadas, há razões para supor que estas relevam para efeitos de motivação de liderados. As organizações devem ter essas competências em atenção ao selecionar pessoas para funções de liderança, e precisam de fazer um esforço de desenvolvimento de líderes orientados para essas mesmas competências, tornando a sua liderança mais eficaz.

Accessibility and support in critical moments, innovation in communication, and team motivation were the most mentioned behaviors of the leaders. Social-relational competencies having been the most cited, there is reason to assume that they are relevant the motivation of subordinates. Organizations should pay attention to these competencies when selecting people for leadership roles, and they need to make an effort to develop leaders oriented towards these competencies, making their leadership more effective.
