dc.description.abstractO cyberbullying é um fenómeno que originou-se pela mudança do paradigma atual nas interações sociais dos jovens, com o crescimento das novas tecnologias e a partilha de informações. Apesar da temática do cyberbullying ser atual, verifica-se que poucos estudos têm explorado as testemunhas deste fenómeno. Neste sentido, o presente estudo pretende explorar a perceção dos adolescentes testemunhas de cyberbullying face aos acontecimentos que testemunham online, nomeadamente os significados atribuídos ao cyberbullying, assim como os tipos de envolvimento e respetivas estratégias utilizadas. Neste estudo exploratório foram realizadas entrevistas individuais a nove adolescentes, entre os 12 e os 14 anos, de ambos os sexos. Os resultados mostram que os participantes atribuem um significado negativo ao cyberbullying, com implicações tanto na vítima como nas testemunhas. Relativamente ao seu tipo de envolvimento em situações de cyberbullying, tanto o envolvimento ativo como o envolvimento ambivalente foram os mais relatados, utilizando como principais estratégias o apoiar a vítima, e o pedir ajuda a adultos de referência. É importante o papel destes intervenientes, e o desenvolvimento de programas de prevenção, no sentido de consciencializa-los acerca do cyberbullying e do impacto no bem-estar psicológico e emocional, pode aumentar a empatia destas testemunhas e leva-las a agir.pt_PT
dc.description.abstractCyberbullying is a phenomenon that begun with youth’s social interactions’ present paradigm, the rise of new technologies and sharing information. Although the discussion of cyberbullying is current, little research has been found regarding thewitnesses of this interaction. Therefore, the present study aims to explore the perceptions of cyberbullying teenage witnesses regarding what they saw online, namely meaning that they attributed to cyberbullying, as well as other types of involvement and their respective utilized strategies. In this exploratory study, we interviewed nine participants individually, who were between the ages of 12 and 14 years old, of both sexes. The results show that the participants attribute a negative meaning towards cyberbullying, with implications towards the victim and the witnesses. Regarding their type of involvement in these types of situations, the most mentioned were active and ambivalent involvement and their main strategies they were showing support towards the victim and ask adults for help. The roles from these witnesses are important and the development of prevention programmes with the aim of increasing awareness regarding cyberbullying and the impact on their psychological and emotional well-being, which can increase the witnesses’ empathy, resulting in action.pt_PT
