Abstract(s)
Migratory flows are a complex and multifaceted phenomenon in today's society, which poses challenges to public health. Many migrants live in adverse conditions, which are why they are considered more vulnerable, due to unequal access to services. The constitution of the Portuguese republic, guarantees the right to health protection, however poverty, social position in the community and the culture of each one are determinants in access to health care. It is necessary, a policy of proximity in the interventions associated with these groups, by the health services. It was in this context that a community intervention project was developed in a UCC of ACES Loures-Odivelas, during the internship within the scope of the Master in Community Nursing and Public Health, entitled “Health Access Meeting Point”. The goal of the nursing interventions implemented is to contribute to increasing the health surveillance of the migrant population, through the promotion of their health. It was implemented using the Health Planning methodology and Nola Pender's Health Promotion Model. It was through health education that the migrant population was able to recognize the importance of accessing health care, as a way of monitoring their health. Healthy behaviors were promoted through increased knowledge and change in seeking for health care services. The strategies implemented primary goal is to improve community nursing care responses to the migrant population, contributing to their health surveillance.
