Abstract(s)
Com o intuito de aplicar os conhecimentos na área de administração e gestão do
Turismo, o autor deste estudo optou pela realização do trabalho de investigação em
contexto empresarial. Para o efeito, realizou um estágio no Hotel The Yeatman (Vila
Nova de Gaia), considerado um dos hotéis mais prestigiados de Portugal. O estágio teve
uma duração de 450 horas e realizou-se entre o dia 16 de setembro até ao dia 16 de
dezembro do ano de 2019, com horários rotativos.
Ao longo do estágio foram desempenhadas várias funções que, para além de
permitirem o conhecimento e o funcionamento de um hotel de luxo, possibilitaram-me a
experiência em hotelaria e serviram de base para avaliar o modo como a sustentabilidade
pode e deve ser um elemento diferenciador no setor hoteleiro.
Na realidade, vários estudos têm demostrado a importância da sustentabilidade para a
sociedade global, e para o planeamento e gestão do Turismo, em particular. Importa assim
conhecer o contributo que a hotelaria pode dar nesse sentido, bem como entender o que
no caso do Hotel The Yeatman tem sido feito.
In order to apply my knowledge in the field of Tourism administration and management, the author of this study opted to carry out a research work in a business context. For this purpose, he did an internship at The Yeatman Hotel, considered one of the most prestigious hotels in Portugal. The internship lasted 450 hours and took place between the 16th of September until the 16th of December of the year 2019, with rotating schedules. Throughout the internship, different functions were performed which, in addition to providing a better understanding of the management of a luxury hotel and in gaining experience in the hotel industry, served as a basis for assessing how sustainability can be a differentiating factor in the hospitality industry. In fact, several studies have shown the importance of sustainability for the global society, and for Tourism Planning and Management in particular. It is therefore, important to know the contribution that the Hotel Industry can make in this regard, as well as understand what has been done in the case of The Yeatman Hotel.
