Abstract(s)
This report presents a reflection on Growing in Diversity in the school context. The word diversity, the mark of society, stands out and is present in our schools. Faced with this diversity, it is a challenge to school, to adopt strategies and measures to respect, accept and value each other's differences. It is intended a school that educates for equality, which can meet the needs of all, without exception, a quality education with the same rights and opportunities, so that everyone can achieve school success, regardless of having different abilities and characteristics. We want a school that is of everyone and for everyone. In this context, we present Student Profile Out of Compulsory Education, a document issued by the Ministry of Education, which aims to create a more humanistic, inclusive and democratic school, adapted to the environment and where students can participate more actively in their educational process. The Catholic Moral and Religious Education subject can also give an important contribute in this process. Through its program, it proposes acceptance of diversity and dialogue between people. It creates in their students a sense of interest and respect for each other and an attitude of acceptance for difference, leading them to exclude any form of discrimination. The teacher has a fundamental role as an educational agent in school and classroom. The present work is included in the Supervised Teaching Practice, more specifically, in Unit 2, “To Grow in Diversity”, of the Catholic Moral and Religious Education Program of the 4th grade. In this context, an attempt was made to address the importance of diversity in the school context, which, far from being a cause of conflict and unease, should be respected and valued.
