Mito e personagem controversa, Medeia atravessa o tempo e sobrevive
através das artes e da literatura. Sem reunir consensos, continua a inspirar os
autores contemporâneos, que a ela regressam sem a rejeitar definitivamente. Por
permitir diferentes abordagens e novas leituras, mais ou menos improváveis, mais
ou menos inéditas, o mito de Medeia não só não se esgota literariamente, como
adquire importantes possibilidades interpretativas, ditadas pela nova época e sensibilidade
em que ressurge.
Com o objetivo de justificar a intemporalidade e a atualidade da figura mítica,
observaremos, neste estudo, as figurações de Medeia nas obras Sob o Olhar de
Medeia de Fiama Hasse Pais Brandão, Desmesura – Exercício com Medeia de Hélia
Correia e Medeia de Mário Cláudio, explorando a singularidade de cada releitura do
mito, reinterpretado por três autores portugueses contemporâneos a partir de
registos genológicos e mundividências distintos.

Without gathering consensus, it continues to inspire contemporary writers, to which they return without rejecting it definitively. By allowing different approaches and new readings, more or less improbable, more or less unpublished, the myth of Medea not only does not end in literature but also acquires important interpretative possibilities dictated by the new era and sensibility in which emerges. In order to justify the actualility and timelessness of the mythic figure, we observe, in this study, the figurations of Medea in the works Sob o Olhar de Medeia by Fiama Hasse Pais Brandão, Desmesura – Exercício com Medeia by Hélia Correia and Medeia by Mário Cláudio, exploring the uniqueness of each re-reading of the myth, reinterpreted by three Portuguese contemporary authors from different literary records and worldviews.
