Abstract(s)
A presente dissertação assume, como intencionalidade subjacente, pôr em evidência a vida de Edith Stein, posteriormente, Teresa Benedita da Cruz, inserida no contexto e contornos autênticos e históricos, partindo dos seus escritos. Através de uma análise biográfica esquematizada pretende-se observar a vida, de forma holística, que se ensaia no concreto da história humana, situando, o caso de Edith, na primeira metade do século XX. A sua existência enquadra-se no ambiente e cenário de duas Guerras Mundiais e, concomitantemente, assiste-se
a profundas mutações culturais e sociais, na Europa e no mundo, as quais lançarão os fundamentos para a sociedade hodierna. Nesta conjuntura, Edith Stein, ávida buscadora de respostas, faz da verdade caminho de procura, trilho de missão e de fé, o que nos mobiliza a
recolocar a eterna e imutável pergunta: O que é a verdade? Esta questão sugere outra: O que procura quem busca a verdade? Edith conseguiu as respostas certas, irrefutáveis e desejadas, pela paixão ávida em as descobrir. Em sintonia com a demanda da verdade, a cruz desponta e distingue-se como ponto de encontro nos diferentes momentos da vida de Edith Stein, transformando-a em cientista da Cruz, que a inspirou, orientou e conduziu a experienciar o Martírio como epílogo da Cruz. Verdadeiro exemplo e testemunho de Amor.
The present dissertation assumes, as underlying intention, to highlight the life of Edith Stein, later, Teresa Benedicta of the Cross, inserted in the context and authentic and historical contours, starting from her writings. Through a schematized biographical analysis, it is intended to observe life, in a holistic way, which is rehearsed in the concrete of human history, situating, the case of Edith, in the first half of the twentieth century. Its existence fits into the environment and scenario of two World Wars and, at the same time, we are witnessing profound cultural and social changes, in Europe and in the world, which will lay the foundations for today's society. At this juncture, Edith Stein, an avid seeker of answers, turns the truth into a path of search, a journey of mission and faith, which prompts us to put the eternal and unchanging question: What is truth? This question suggests another: What seeks those who seek the truth? Edith got the right answers, irrefutable and desired, by her eager passion to discover them. In line with the demand for truth, the cross emerges and distinguishes itself as a meeting point at the different moments of Edith Stein's life, transforming her into a scientist of the Cross, which inspired, guided and led her to experience Martyrdom as an epilogue of the Cross. True exemple and witness of Love.
