A presente investigação tem um caráter qualitativo e como principal finalidade analisar a forma como os novos valores do capitalismo têm vindo, ou não, a influenciar o discurso e a prática de gestão.
Inicialmente, começou-se por criar um quadro teórico sobre o capitalismo, onde se abordou a evolução deste sistema económico e social, e analisou-se os seus vários problemas, nomeadamente, as crises, desigualdades e precariedade. Através de uma índole crítica explorou-se, igualmente, a génese histórica do novo espírito do capitalismo e dos seus novos valores.
Para de facto analisar o impacto deste novo espírito do capitalismo, o objeto de estudo utilizado foram três empresas startups, sediadas no norte de Portugal. Foram realizadas entrevistas semiestruturadas aos CEOs (Chief Executive Officers) destas empresas, onde as questões do guião deram espaço aos entrevistados para caracterizarem a prática de gestão que adotam.
Posteriormente, foi possível fazer um cruzamento da informação proveniente do quadro teórico com a informação que conseguimos através do discurso dos CEOs, na tentativa de cumprir com a finalidade principal deste estudo.
The present research has a qualitative character and its main purpose is to analyze how the new values of capitalism have been, or are not, influencing management discourse and practices. Initially, it began by creating a theoretical framework on capitalism, which addressed the evolution of this economic and social system, and analyzed its various problems, namely, crises, inequalities and precariousness. Through a critical nature, the historical genesis of the new spirit of capitalism and its new values was also explored. In order to analyze the impact of this new spirit of capitalism, the object of study used were three startups, based in the north of Portugal. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with the Chief Executive Officers of these companies, where the questions of the script gave space to the interviewees to characterize the management practice they adopt. Subsequently, it was possible to cross-reference information from the theoretical framework with the information we obtained through the CEOs' speech, in an attempt to fulfill the main purpose of this study.
