Abstract(s)
A análise
The current study consists of an analysis relayed on specific groups represented by the professionals and families of Child and Youth Protection Boards1 in Portugal. This analysis intends to characterize the communication established between both groups, considering primarily the way the professional group communicates with the family group. To guarantee a thoughtfully understanding of the proposed topic, dynamics that are related to communication were considered. Thus, we individually proceeded to the identification and analysis of the phases that complement a process of promotion and protection (PPP), namely the feedback, the perception, the feelings and some models and strategies of procedure used by the professional group in his approach, perception and types of relationship established within the process of communication itself. These data were the result of the application of 20 semi structured interviews to 10 professionals and 10 family members according to the qualitative exploratory. The analysis according to the abductive and deductive method was constructed using the program Nvivo 11 with expressive conclusions in the scope of the phases that most involve communication and levels of interaction: beginning of the PPP and application of a promotion and protection measure (PPM). In both contexts it is possible to observe the domain of a verbal, direct, communication with styles and functions of a clear and assertive communication conjugated with characteristics of an adapted, integrative language, as far as the reformulation, clearance and establishment of agreements are concerned. These dynamics of communication emerge in parallel with a professional attitude characterized as essentially available in both groups and a perception of rejection and understanding in professionals-family members’ point of view, understanding and unfamiliarity as far as the family members are concerned, which justifies the feelings of anger and fear felt in the domain of a relationship that becomes associated with the distant notion. The relationship between the general category of communication as different phases of the processes and other domains analyzed according to the perspective of the groups under analysis assists no development of practical implications of the study refer to an importance of the dynamics applied to the users group, promoting their interaction with the intervention. Future investigations are essential in order to test these results on larger samples and in diverse contexts.
