Abstract(s)
The current study was developed due to a lack of interventions programs in music performance anxiety (MPA) available. The objective was to contribute to the development of a group intervention manual in MPA and explore the feasibility of the strategies and activities developed, as part of a proof-of-concept study. An intervention was administered to adolescents of a music school and a multiple case study was done. Four sessions were administered to five participants with ages ranging from 13 to 14. The MPA and state-anxiety levels were evaluated before and after the intervention trough the administration of the MPAI-A and STAIC C-2. A logbook was kept, describing each session’s functioning and other relevant aspects regarding the participants’ involvement. Globally, a decrease in symptoms was registered in the total average scores of the instruments. A decrease in symptomatology was found in two participants and an increase in three. Participants with higher therapeutic adherence showed better results. It was understood the feasibility of strategies such as psychoeducation, cognitive restructuring, and diaphragmatic breathing. The results contribute to a better understanding of the feasibility of different strategies as well as changes that are necessary to develop a feasibility study of the program in the future.
