Abstract(s)
O
presente
estudo
assenta
no
propósito
de
tentar
compreender
as
perceções
e
as
experiências
de
alunos
do
ensino
básico
e
do
ensino
secundário
sobre
as
suas
vivências
e
experiências
escolares.
Sabemos
pouco
sobre
o
que
os
bons
alunos
(com
resultados
académicos
elevados)
pensam
sobre
a
escola,
sobre
o
seu
processo
de
escolarização.
Esta
ignorância
foi
a
nossa
motivação
maior
e
a
área
de
investigação
escolhida.
Trata-‐se,
portanto,
de
um
estudo
exploratório,
descritivo
e
interpretativo
dentro
do
paradigma
qualitativo,
pretendendo-‐se
retratar
a
visão
e
as
experiências
escolares
dos
discentes.
Este
estudo
entra,
assim,
no
mundo
pessoal
dos
participantes,
normalmente
ignorados
nas
decisões
relativas
ao
processo
de
escolarização
(nos
diferentes
níveis:
sala
de
aula,
escola,
ministério
da
educação).
Encarando
a
realidade
escolar
como
uma
realidade
complexa
que
exige
uma
análise
em
diferentes
ângulos,
esta
investigação
problematiza
os
desafios
que
se
colocam
atualmente
às
escolas
através
da
voz
dos
alunos,
sendo
que
os
dados
foram
recolhidos
numa
escola
secundária
urbana
no
centro
do
Porto,
junto
de
alunos
dos
9º,
10º
e
12º
anos.
A
técnica
de
recolha
de
dados
usada
nesta
investigação
foi
a
do
“Focus
Group”.
Os
dados
recolhidos
e
analisados
neste
estudo
permitem-‐nos
concluir
que,
na
generalidade,
o
processo
de
escolarização
revela
lacunas
graves
no
seu
decorrer
e
é
perspetivada
uma
falta
de
sentido
nas
práticas
escolares
vivenciadas
pelos
alunos.
Os
discentes
apresentam
uma
visão
tendencialmente
negativa
das
dimensões
relacionadas
com
a
aula,
a
avaliação
e
o
professor,
manifestando
uma
visão
mais
equilibrada
da
escola
em
geral.
This study is based on the purpose of trying to understand the perceptions and experiences of students of primary and secondary school about their personal and school experiences. We know little about what good students (with high academic results) think about school, about their education process. This ignorance was our greatest motivation and the chosen research area. It is, therefore, an exploratory, descriptive and interpretive study within the qualitative paradigm intending to portray students’ vision and school experiences. Thus, this study gets in the personal world of the participants, usually ignored in decisions about schooling process (at different levels: classroom, school, ministry of education). Facing the school reality as a complex reality that requires an analysis at different angles, this research discusses the challenges that schools are currently facing through the voice of the students. The data was collected from students from 9th, 10th and 12th grade, in an urban high school in the center of Oporto. The data collection technique used in this research was the "Focus Group". The collected and analyzed data in this study allow us to conclude that, in general, the process of schooling reveals serious shortcomings in its course and it is perceived a lack of direction in school practices experienced by students. The students tend to have a negative view of the dimensions related to the lesson, to the assessment and to the teacher, revealing a more balanced view of the school in general.
