Iniciado na ilha de Brownsea em 1907 em Inglaterra, com Robert Paden-Powell, o escutismo
rapidamente se desenvolveu e espalhou pelo mundo. Em 1923 o arcebispo de Braga deu início ao
escutismo católico em Portugal, por acreditar que se tratava dum válido instrumento para a
formação humana e cristã das novas gerações. A dissertação visa seguir este movimento, dando
particular atenção ao magistério da Igreja, para iluminar não só o presente, mas sobretudo o futuro
do escutismo católico em Portugal.
Begun on the island of Brownsea in 1907 in England with Robert Paden-Powell, scouting quickly developed and spread throughout the world. In 1923 the Archbishop of Braga began Catholic scouting in Portugal, believing it to be a valid instrument for the human and Christian formation of new generations. The dissertation aims to follow this movement, giving particular attention to the magisterium of the Church, in order to enlighten not only the present but above all the future of Catholic scouting in Portugal.
