Abstract(s)
outros materiais restauradores. Para a sua colocação existem duas técnicas. A
dando a conhecer as vantagens e desvantagens, indicações e contraindicações.
A pesquisa seguiu as diretrizes
da Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews e Meta-Analysis. A seleção
Introduction: Stainless steel crowns are a restorative option used to hold temporary teeth in chewing and space maintenance. They have higher success and longevity rates when compared to other restorative materials. There are two techniques for its placement. The conventional technique, which is associated with a dental preparation with complete removal of caries, and the Hall technique, which is a biological approach in which caries is not removed and the decayed tooth is not reduced. The objective of this work is to evaluate the effectiveness of the use of the Hall technique compared to the conventional one, in the treatment of deciduous molars, showing the advantages and disadvantages, indications and contraindications. Material and Methods: Systematic review that aims to answer the research question: In children with asymptomatic caries in the deciduous first molars, the placement of metallic crowns using the Hall technique, compared to the placement of metallic crowns using the conventional technique, presents better results in the maintenance of deciduous teeth and /or absence of pulpal symptoms? The survey followed the guidelines of Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis. Studies were selected using the PubMed, Cochrane Library, Scopus and Web of Science platforms, with publication dates between 2015-2021. Results: The initial sample consisted of 315 articles. After evaluating the sample, without duplicates, and with application of the inclusion and exclusion criteria, we obtained only 5 articles to prepare this review. Conclusion: It was possible to validate that the Hall technique presents a facilitated protocol compared to the conventional technique. Success rates between the techniques were equivalent, with no statistically significant differences. More studies are needed to compare the two techniques with a longer follow-up.
