| dc.description.abstract | A telenovela em Portugal parece estar a regressar à matriz clássica do melodrama. Muito relevante para os canais comerciais SIC e TVI na faixa do horário nobre, o formato tem a necessidade constante de se adaptar ao que o público procura. Após um período em que os autores complexificavam as narrativas e as aproximavam das séries internacionais, transmitidas principalmente pelos canais por subscrição, as telenovelas portuguesas procuraram recentralizar-se na sua essência e contar histórias com valores, crenças e códigos partilhados, com os quais os espectadores facilmente se identificam. No presente projeto, estuda-se a evolução do formato no país e as causas para o regresso à estrutura melodramática. Desde a estreia de Gabriela (1977), passando por Vila Faia (1982) e acompanhando a disputa pelas audiências entre a SIC, a TVI, os canais por subscrição e, mais recentemente, as plataformas de streaming, procura traçar-se o percurso das telenovelas em Portugal, de forma a compreender de que modo são influenciadas as narrativas. Conclui-se que o regresso à matriz melodramática é a resposta das estações generalistas privadas SIC e TVI face ao que os espectadores esperam encontrar no formato atualmente. Não obstante a inúmera oferta de ficção por parte de outros canais e plataformas, são características como a portugalidade, a partilha da mesma língua e cultura, e o reflexo de uma realidade representativa que distinguem a telenovela, tornando-a num produto familiar e atrativo para o público. O principal objetivo do estudo é suportar o projeto de telenovela, que consiste na escrita e apresentação do guião do primeiro capítulo. Em busca de reunir as características que tornam o formato inconfundível, Linha do Destino aborda temáticas como o amor, a família e o dia-a-dia numa pequena localidade onde todos se conhecem e onde a ficção e a realidade, muitas vezes, se confundem. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | The telenovela in Portugal seems to be returning to the classic matrix of the melodrama. Very relevant for the commercial channels SIC and TVI in the prime-time slot, the format has the constant need to adapt to what the public demands. After a period in which authors complexified the narratives and brought them closer to international series, broadcasted mainly by subscription channels, Portuguese telenovelas sought to refocus on their essence and tell stories with values, beliefs and shared codes, with which viewers can easily identify. In the current project, we study the evolution of the format in the country and the causes for the return to the melodramatic structure. Since the premiere of Gabriela (1977), passing through Vila Faia (1982) and following the dispute for audiences between SIC, TVI, subscription channels and, more recently, streaming platforms, it seeks to trace the course of telenovelas in Portugal, to understand in which way narratives are influenced. We conclude that the return to the melodramatic matrix is the answer of the private generalist stations SIC and TVI in face of what viewers hope to find in the format nowadays. Despite the numerous fiction offerings by other channels and platforms, characteristics such as portugality, sharing the same language and culture, and the reflection of a representative reality are what distinguish the telenovela, making it a familiar and attractive product for the audience. The main objective of the study is to support the telenovela project, which consists of writing and presenting the script of the first chapter. Seeking to bring together the characteristics which make the format unmistakable, “Linha do Destino” addresses themes such as love, family, and day-to-day life in a small town where everyone knows one another and where fiction and reality often gets confused. | pt_PT |
