Abstract(s)
as perícopes.
The purpose of the study developed was to assess if the Paul’s experience of Christ, expressed in Flp 3,8, might be used as a hermeneutical key for John of the Cross’ Ascent, 1, 13,11. Specifically, it is intended to assess if the John of the Cross’ concept of nothing, expressed in Ascent, 1, 13,11, can be better understood through the Pauline experience, expressed by the term σκύβαλα from Flp 3,8. In order to achieve this objective, a biographical, doctrinal and mystical framework of the two figures is presented, followed by the analysis of each pericope, considering the literary and doctrinal context in which they are inserted. Two decisive concepts are analysed: σκύβαλα of Flp 3,8 and nothing, of Ascent, 1, 13,11. Finally, and based on all the contributions gathered, a comparative reading of both pericopes is carried out.
