Após uma breve introdução de contextualização histórica, é propósito deste trabalho expor algumas conclusões atinentes ao tema indicado, dando conta, nomeadamente, de uma referência ao médico e botânico italiano Pietro Andrea Mattioli que escreveu a Apologia contra o seu contemporâneo Amato Lusitano.
After a brief introduction of historical context, it is the purpose of this paper to present some conclusions relating to the stated theme, giving account, namely, of one reference to the Italian botanist and physician Pietro Andrea Mattioli who wrote the Apologia against his Portuguese contemporary Amatus Lusitanus.
