Abstract(s)
Nesta dissertação pretende-se analisar quais os fatores de escolha de um turista sobre o
destino turístico, apresentando-se assim quais os principais componentes em questão, tais
como a segurança e a saúde.
Neste sentido, na primeira parte da tese é analisado discriminadamente a importância da
imagem de um destino turístico realçando o peso que a sua imagem positiva ou negativa
tem na escolha do mesmo.
É igualmente abordado o processo dessa formação e explorado a diferença entre a imagem
percebida e projetada.
A segunda parte deste trabalho trata de enquadrar o tema competitividade no âmbito do
turismo e como se tem vindo a destacar na economia mundial. Serão evidenciados alguns
fatores chaves de competitividade tais como a diferenciação, a autenticidade e a
experiência.
Posteriormente, fala-se do impacto da instabilidade política nas últimas duas décadas, em
particular o impacto que os atentados terroristas tiveram na procura turística.
O resultado final emerge num inquérito para averiguar que tipo de escolhas são efetuadas
pelos turistas antes da procura do destino a visitar e, daí sairão as conclusões finais desta
tese de mestrado. Sendo elas que tanto o fator segurança e como o fator saúde são dos
princípios mais importantes a ter em conta no momento de decisão por parte dos turistas.
Podendo-se assim concluir, que juntamente com a literatura desta tese, que cada vez mais
os destinos turísticos têm de apostar na segurança dos seus países, para conseguirem
aumentar o fluxo turístico.
This thesis aims to analyse the factors that influence destination choices of tourists, with special attention to the main focus of this research, safety and health. Thee first part of the thesis discusses the importance of destination image, highlighting the role of a positive or a negative image in tourists’ decision-making. This process is also analysed in detail and the difference between the perceived and projected image is explored. The second part of the thesis deals with the topic of competitiveness in the context of tourism and how it has been standing out in the world economy. Within this context, some of the key competitiveness factors such as differentiation, authenticity and experience are highlighted. Lastly, the impacts of political instability during the last two decades on tourism demand are discussed, in particular those of the terrorist attacks. Empirical data was obtained by designing and carrying out a survey research. The final results indicate that both the safety factor and the health factor are the most important factors to take into account when making a decision on the part of tourists. It can be concluded that together with the literature of this thesis, that more and more tourist destinations have to bet on the security of their countries, in order to increase the tourist flow.
