Abstract(s)
O presente trabalho versa sobre o pensamento político de Raul Proença, ou
melhor, sobre a reflexão acerca da democracia feita pelo autor. Homem de espírito
combativo, sempre se posicionou nas fileiras daqueles que lutam por uma sociedade
mais justa e mais humana.
Para desenvolver o objectivo citado, começámos por fazer uma incursão nas
suas principais influências político-filosóficas. Para tal, colocámos em relevo a
indelével marca da geração de 70 e da sua figura de proa, Antero de Quental. Não
menos importante foi também a contundente influência de Teófilo Braga. Destacámos
ainda o aparecimento da revista Seara Nova, na qual Proença teve um papel
preponderante enquanto fundador e colaborador activo.
Seguidamente, a nossa análise centrou-se no seu pensamento político,
evidenciando, numa primeira fase, os problemas da república, para numa segunda,
colocar ênfase no valor da mesma. Neste capítulo pensamos ter ficado claro que o autor,
verdadeiro democrata, nunca se conformou perante as injustiças e a desorganização
social, aspirando sempre a uma sociedade menos desigual que garantisse a igualdade de
oportunidades aos seus membros.
Ficou reservado para a última parte desta dissertação a clamorosa actualidade do
pensamento de Raul Proença, sem esquecer o sentido da democracia nos dias de hoje.
This report is about the political thought of Raul Proença, or better, about the author reflection on democracy. A man of a fighting spirit, he always positioned himself with those who fight for a more just and a more human society. To develop the quoted objective, we tried to find out about his main politicalphilosophical influences. For that, we focused on the indelible mark of the generation of the 70´s and its prominent figure, Antero de Quental. Not less important was also the striking influence of Teófilo Braga. We also highlighted the appearance of the magazine Seara Nova, in which Proença had a remarkable role while founder and active collaborator. Next, our analysis was centered on his political thought: in a first phase stressing the problems of the republic, and in a second one emphasizing its value. In this chapter we think it became clear that the author, a true democrat, never conformed with the injustice and social disorganization, always wishing a less unfair society, which could guarantee the equality of opportunities to its members. The last part of our dissertation was reserved to the highly current thought of Raul Proença, without forgetting the meaning of democracy nowadays.
