A escolha
This report comes under the scope of the 13th Master in Nursing, in the area of Specialization in child and pediatric health, at Universidade Católica Portuguesa. Its aim is to describe and critically analyze the activities carried out in the internship, which were based on the acquisition and development of specialized skills. Regarding the master's degree, research was one of the skills I acquired when developing a research study, namely an integrative literature review. As an integral part of the method chosen for the review, Beth Rodgers' evolutionary concept analysis model was selected. This study, through a systematic and rigorous process, enabled the development of the concept of parents' health literacy, with the identification of its components and main attributes. The report covers three internship periods carried out in different contexts: pediatric emergency service, primary health care setting and neonatology. The choice of internship locations was linked to the personal objectives outlined for this academic path. It was sought that the central theme of this Report was transversal to the three internship locations, which allowed not only to promote reflection on the theme with the nursing team, but also to leave effective contributions to the improvement of nursing care in the sphere of parents' health literacy. The internship performed at the pediatric emergency service was essential and very significant due to the increase in the body of knowledge, the mobilization of knowledge, skills and competences, and the decision-making processes that these implied. It also made it possible to explore the role that culture plays in the theme of parents' health literacy. The internship at a primary health care setting allowed me to develop skills in providing specialized care to the child/youth and family in this health context, within the scope of maximizing their development potential. This clinical context allowed me to observe how the concept under study behaves in practice, and through the activities developed it was possible to alert and sensitize nursing professionals to the role that parents' health literacy plays in their daily practices. In the neonatology internship, it was possible to emphasize the concept of study and sensitize the nursing team to the prominent role that, even in such a specific context, parents' health literacy occupies in the care provided, such as parents' readiness for discharge. This long path allowed the development of the skills of a Specialist Nurse, more specifically, a Specialist Nurse in Child and Pediatric Health Nursing. Throughout the course, the skills inherent to the award of the Master's degree were also acquired.
