A elaboração deste relatório surge no âmbito do plano curricular do 3º Curso de Mestrado em Enfermagem de Saúde Infantil e Pediatria do Instituto de Ciências da Saúde da Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Porto, com vista à obtenção do grau de Mestre. A realização do estágio de especialização em Enfermagem de Saúde Infantil e Pediatria serviu de base de reflexão deste documento com a finalidade de demonstrar a aquisição de competências na referida área da prática de cuidados. O facto de este estágio se desenvolver em diversos contextos da assistência à criança/família, nomeadamente numa Unidade de Saúde Familiar e num Hospital Central (Serviço de Urgência Pediátrica, Unidade de Cuidados Intensivos Neonatais e Serviço de Pediatria Médica), fez com que este fosse rico em experiências que proporcionaram uma aprendizagem consistente, o que facultou um conjunto de conhecimentos, capacidades e habilidades. Foram prestados cuidados de enfermagem a crianças nas mais variadas faixas etárias, procurando estabelecer uma comunicação eficaz e adequada com a criança/família, envolvendo a criança/adolescente na tomada de decisão e estabelecendo de uma relação de parceria com os pais/prestadores de cuidados, como forma de promover a parentalidade e minimizar o impacto da hospitalização da criança. Ao longo do documento apresenta-se uma análise critico-reflexiva, recorrendo à evidência científica sempre que adequado, com o objectivo de demonstrar o trabalho desenvolvido para adquirir novos conhecimentos e para consolidar conhecimentos adquiridos ao longo da prática profissional nesta área específica da enfermagem. Considero esta experiência como o início do meu percurso como Enfermeira Especialista em Enfermagem de Saúde Infantil e Pediatria.
This report is part of the curricular plan of the 3rd Masters Course in Child Health and Pediatric Nursing of the Health Science Institute of the Portuguese Catholic University, Porto, with the aim of obtaining the Masters degree. The specialization training in Child Health and Pediatric Nursing is the base of reflection of this document, in order to demonstrate the competences acquired in this area of nursing practice. The fact that this training occured in various contexts of child/family care, such as a Community Care Center and a Central Hospital (Pediatric Emergency Room, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Pediatric Unit), made it full of experiences that led to a consistent learning, which provided a set of knowledge, skills and abilities. Nursing care was provided to children of all ages, establishing an effective and appropriate communication with both child and parents, involving children/adolecents in decision making and establishing a partnership relationship with parents/care providers, as part of promoting parenting and minimizing hospitalization impact in the child. Througout this document a critical-reflexive analysis is presented, relating to scientific evidence whenever adequate, in order to demonstrate the work developed with the aim of gaining knowledge and consolidating knowledge gained during professional practice in this specific area. I consider this experience the beginning of my journey as a specialized nurse in Child Health and Pediatric Nursing
