tool for randomized trials (RoB 2)”.
Scopus e 69 na Web Of Science®).
Introduction: Most patients, including children, consider impressions an uncomfortable process, leading to anxiety and stress, and possibly causing nausea and vomiting. The use of intraoral scanners made impressions easier, allowing a reduction of clinical and laboratory procedures. The aim of this systematic review consists of approaching the use of intraoral scanners in Pediatric Dentistry and their efficiency as a digital impression method compared to conventional ones. Material and Methods: The present study followed the guidances of the PRISMA guideline, used the PICO model for the research question, having been registered on the PROSPERO platform with identification number (ID): CRD42023425178. The search databases were identified: PubMed/MEDLINE®, ScienceDirect, Scopus and Web of Science® with the respective research equations. Study quality was evaluated using the “Revised Cochrane risk-of-bias tool for randomized trials (RoB 2)”. The examiners’ agreement was evaluated using Cohen's Kappa coefficient, having verified for the complete reading of the articles a value of k=1, which is equivalent to an Almost Perfect agreement. Results: After applying the filters in the respective databases, a total of 174 articles were obtained (45 in PubMed/MEDLINE®, 36 in ScienceDirect, 24 in Scopus and 69 in Web Of Science®). After eliminating duplicates and the use the inclusion and exclusion criteria, a total of 4 articles were obtained to be included in this study. Conclusion: The digital method was considered the most comfortable and practical procedure, which leads to a greater acceptance compared to the conventional method, having demonstrated its efficiency as an impression/molding method. Further studies will be needed to understand how the operators’ experience interferes with patients' preference for different impression techniques.
