A atual condição dos idosos em Angola é “degradante”, disse o sociólogo e pesquisador
Marcelino Pintinho (comunicação pessoal), para quem o envelhecimento em Angola
acontece maioritariamente de modo precário e degradante, em boa medida devido à
ausência de definição de políticas sociais claras e eficazes em prol das pessoas na terceira
idade. Ignorados e marginalizados pela sociedade e pelo Estado, os idosos angolanos têm
um futuro determinado pela ausência de condições, com políticas e estratégias que não
dão garantia de qualidade de vida, pelo contrário, precipitam o inevitável. Em Luanda, os
idosos com demências permanecem nos seus domicílios, vivendo na generalidade dos
casos sem qualquer apoio, dependentes da família ou de terceiros. Desta forma nasce a
necessidade de se criar um serviço de apoio ao domicílio em Luanda, designadamente,
para apoiar idosos sofrendo de demência. O objetivo deste projeto é, pois, a criação de
um Serviço de Apoio Domiciliário para idosos com demência residentes em Luanda,
tendo como objetivo geral proporcionar qualidade de vida aos mesmos.
The current condition of older people in Angola is “degrading”, said sociologist and researcher Marcelino Pintinho (personal communication), for whom aging in Angola mostly happens in a precarious and degrading way, in part due to the lack of definition of clear and effective social policies in favor of older people. Ignored and marginalized by society and the State, the Angolan elderly have a future determined by the lack of conditions, with policies and strategies that do not guarantee quality of life; on the contrary, they precipitate the inevitable. In Luanda, older people with dementia remain at home, living in most cases without any support, dependent on their family or third parties. Thus, the need arises to create a home support service in Luanda, namely to support elderly people suffering from dementia. The objective of this project is, therefore, the creation of a Home Support Service for older people with dementia residing in Luanda, with the general objective of providing them with quality of life.
