| dc.description.abstract | O presente relatório surge no âmbito da Unidade Curricular “Estágio Final e Relatório” do Curso de Mestrado em Enfermagem com Especialização em Enfermagem de Saúde Infantil e Pediátrica da Universidade Católica Portuguesa, e tem como objetivo espelhar o percurso de desenvolvimento de competências para obtenção do grau de mestre e de Especialista em Saúde Infantil e Pediátrica. O tema elegido para ser trabalhado e aprofundado ao longo deste percurso de aprendizagem foi os acidentes infantis, uma vez que continuam a ser uma das principais causas de morte de crianças e jovens no mundo, representando um problema de saúde pública com consequências preocupantes para a própria criança vítima do acidente, para a sua família e para a comunidade. Embora a sua incidência tenha diminuído graças à implementação de vários programas, legislações e boas práticas na área da segurança infantil, é uma área que carece de atenção e intervenção. De forma a identificar a população mais vulnerável para a ocorrência de acidentes, foi realizada uma Revisão da Literatura (Scoping Review) com vista a identificar os fatores de risco de acidentes em crianças com idades entre os 0 e os 4 anos. Os resultados indicam que os fatores de risco mais evidenciados são o sexo masculino da criança, a idade jovem da mãe, escolaridade mais baixa da mãe e/ou família, situação socioeconómica baixa, a menor supervisão por parte dos cuidadores e o facto de existir mais do que um filho na família. No âmbito dos estágios integrados na Unidade Curricular “Estágio Final e Relatório” foram definidos como objetivos gerais de aprendizagem “desenvolver competências de Enfermeiro Especialista em Saúde Infantil e Pediátrica, no âmbito da prevenção de acidentes” e “desenvolver competências de Enfermeiro Especialista em Saúde Infantil e Pediátrica, na prestação de cuidados à criança e à família, em situações de especial complexidade”. Em todos os contextos foram mobilizados os conhecimentos adquiridos da revisão da literatura e transferidos para a prática, permitindo planear e realizar atividades fundamentadas e sustentadas pelo Modelo Teórico de Promoção de Saúde de Nola J. Pender, com vista a promover a adoção de comportamentos seguros para prevenir os acidentes infantis. A prestação de cuidados e a realização das atividades realizadas nos vários locais de estágios permitiram o desenvolvimento de competências comuns de Enfermeiro Especialista, específicas de Enfermeiro Especialista em Saúde Infantil e Pediátrica e ainda competências de mestre. Destaca-se a importância da intervenção do Enfermeiro Especialista em Saúde Infantil e Pediátrica na promoção da segurança infantil, uma vez que tem uma posição privilegiada na comunidade, intervindo em vários contextos e detém competências fundamentais que lhe permite identificar as famílias de maior risco, criar relações de proximidade com as famílias alvo dos seus cuidados e implementar a mudança através da promoção da adoção de comportamentos seguros. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | This report was written within the curricular unit “Estágio Final e Relatório” of the Master’s Degree Course in Nursing with Specialization in Child and Pediatric Health at Universidade Católica Portuguesa, and aims to reflect the path of skills development to obtain the Master’s and Specialist’s Degree in Child and Pediatric Health. The chosen theme to be worked on and deepened along this learning path was childhood accidents, as they continue to be one of the leading causes of death among children and young adults, representing a public health issue with dramatic consequences upon the child’s health and well being, as well as the family’s and the community. Although it is clear that the incidence of childhood accidents has decreased, due in large to the implementation of various programs, legislations and good health practices towards child safety, it is still a problem that needs to be addressed. In order to identify the most vulnerable population for the occurrence of accidents, and knowing that children in the early ages are particularly susceptible given the characteristics of their growth and development, a Literature Review (Scoping Review) was carried out to determine the risk factors for accidents in children aged 0 to 4 years old. The results indicate that the most evident risk factors are the child’s male gender, the mother’s young age, the mother’s and/or family’s lower level of education, low socioeconomic status, less supervision by the caregivers and families with more than 1 child. Within the internships that the Master’s Course in Nursing with Specialization in Child and Pediatric Health Nursing include, the general learning objectives defined were “to develop skills of the Nurse Specialist in Child and Pediatric Health, within accident prevention” and “to develop skills of the Nurse Specialist in Child and Pediatric Health, caring for the child and family in complex situations”. In all of the practical contexts, the knowledge acquired from the literature review was mobilized and transferred, allowing the planning and carrying out of activities based and supported on Nola J. Pender’s Theoretical Health Promotion Model, with the objective of educating caregivers and promoting safe behaviors to prevent childhood accidents. The provision of care, as well as the activities carried out in all 4 locations of the internships allowed the development of the common Nurse Specialist skills, the specific Pediatric Nurse Specialist skills, as well as the master skills. It is important to highlight the crucial intervention of the Pediatric Nurse Specialist in promoting child safety, since they have a privileged position in the community, allowing them to intervene in various different environments, and they have fundamental skills that allow them to identify the families at greater risk, establish close relationships with these families and implement change by promoting safe behaviors. | pt_PT |
