Abstract(s)
The present dissertation consists of a historical analysis of mainstream animation movies in
addition to television series, and how society helped shape them, how they helped influence
its audiences (both positively and negatively), and their evolution. This dissertation will also
examine how the female gender has been treated and portrayed throughout the years,
exploring its sociological connotations, in the medium of animation. Along with a study on
how representation is important to evade any type of out-casting. It will also include a
comparative analysis between the researched themes and The All-Nighter (2015), a short film
created as the final project of the Masters in Computer Animation’s curriculum.
