Abstract(s)
estrutura organizacional complexa. Os modelos abordados foram o modelo burocrático,
o modelo político e o modelo (neo)institucional.
percurso profissional, enquanto docente numa instituição do ensino privado e procurar
docentes.
This study seeks to understand the influence of the Management Models in private schools and their connection to the efficiency of the teaching/learning process according to the school rankings. The main objectives are the description of educational management models in private education, the relation between the management models practiced in an institution of private education and the efficiency of the teaching/learning process according to the school rankings, and finally the connection between the influence from top management on teachers professional practices, specifically in the subject of Physics and Chemistry A. As a departure point, one seeks to define the concept of "privatize" and, consequently, it is presented a brief theoretical framework on the privatization of education and the reasons why it has been increasing in the last decades. Following this idea, a brief historical outline of private education in Portugal is also presented. Concerning the management models and rationalities, some are analysed, being considered the theoretical basis for the functioning of the school as a complex structure. The models which were analysed were the bureaucratic model, the political model and the (neo)institutionalmodel. As organizational structures, schools are going through a phase in which there is a policy of "accountability". Since 2001, whenthe school rankings were published for the first time, the quality of some teaching institutions started being questioned. Through the definition of efficiency and quality of school by some researchers from the area of the Sciences of Education, one seeks to verify whether there is any connection with the position obtained by the schools in the rankings. In the last part of this work, my professional career is analysed, as part of the teaching staff in an institution of private education and one seeks to understand if there is influence from top management on the professional practices of teachers.
