Abstract(s)
A Medicina Dentária é a disciplina médica responsável pelo diagnóstico e tratamento de
patologias da cavidade oral, cabeça e pescoço, pela reabilitação oral dos pacientes e pela
manutenção, quer através de tratamentos quer através da educação do paciente para tal, de
condições de higiene satisfatórias das peças dentárias e tecidos periodontais.
Atendendo à sua componente extremamente prática e à existência de várias áreas dentro
dela que se articulam umas com as outras para obter o resultado delineado no plano de
tratamento de cada paciente, torna-se imperioso que no decorrer do Mestrado Integrado em
Medicina Dentária os alunos tenham não só uma boa preparação teórica como uma boa
integração dessa mesma teoria em ambiente clínico; para isto, as componentes clínicas das
várias áreas que funcionam dentro do MIMD torna-se imprescindível aquando da formação de
novos profissionais na área médico dentária.
O presente trabalho visa descrever a atividade clínica do trinómio 78 dentro da Clínica
Universitária da Universidade Católica Portuguesa durante o ano letivo 2013/2014; serão
apresentados, e posteriormente discutidos, os resultados obtidos da análise geral dos dados
assim como os resultados obtidos da análise particular dos dados de cada área clínica em
separado; será também apresentado e discutido numa seção à parte, um caso de cirurgia
periodontal diferenciada referente a uma frenetomia labial inferior associada a um retalho
palatino.
Dentistry is the medical discipline responsible by the diagnosis and treatment of pathologies that usually affect the oral cavity, head and neck and also the medical discipline responsible by the patients’ oral rehabilitation and maintaining an adequate hygiene, via treatments and patient instruction, of the dental pieces and the periodontal tissues. Due to its extremely practical component and its many areas that require communication with one another to achieve the desired treatment plan, it’s very important that the students, during their master’s degree, have not only a good theoretical preparation but an integration of that knowledge in a clinical environment as well; having this in mind, one can see the importance of the clinical components of the many areas that comprise Dentistry when preparing new professionals in that medical discipline. This report describes the activity that the group 78 had, during the year 2013 and 2014, in the University Clinic of the Portuguese Catholic University; the results, obtained from the general and particular assessment of data, will be presented and discussed; a case of periodontal surgery will also be presented and discussed in a separate section due to its differential nature.
