| dc.description.abstract | A hipomineralização incisivo-molar é uma anomalia de origem sistémica que se caracteriza pela presença de opacidades bem demarcadas no esmalte de pelo menos um dos primeiros molares permanentes, podendo também os incisivos permanentes erupcionar afetados. Atualmente, estima-se que a condição afete 1 em cada 6 crianças em todo o mundo e a sua etiologia não está ainda completamente esclarecida. As crianças afetadas exibem frequentemente hipersensibilidade dentária, maior suscetibilidade à cárie, ansiedade, medo, problemas de colaboração em ambiente de consulta, efeito anestésico diminuído e preocupações estéticas. Devido ao potencial impacto negativo que a hipomineralização incisivo-molar tem na saúde oral dos indivíduos afetados, e existindo uma notória falta de consenso quanto ao seu tratamento, o objetivo desta revisão é sumariar a informação existente, publicada entre 2000 e 2020, em língua inglesa, relativa às características da patologia, etiologia, diagnóstico e tratamento. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Molar-incisor hypomineralization is a systemic anomaly that is characterized by the presence of demarcated opacities in the enamel of at least one of the first permanent molars and the permanent incisors may be affected as well. Currently it is estimated that the condition affect one in six children in the world and its etiology remains unclear. Children affected usually exhibit hypersensitivity, increased caries susceptibility, anxiety, fear, dental behaviour management problems, anesthetic difficulties, and esthetic concerns. Due to the negative impact that molar-incisor hypomineralization has on the oral health of the affected individuals and the lack of consensus regarding its treatment, the objective of this review is to summarize the available literature, published between 2000 and 2020 in English, relative to its characteristics, etiology, diagnosis and treatment. | pt_PT |
