Abstract(s)
disseminação do vírus.
A avaliação
ansiedade e a depressão.
orais e as duas condições psicológicas.
Introduction: The emergence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in December 2019 brought doctors and researchers together to mitigate the effects of the disease. Considering its rapid evolution, contingency plans were activated and certain measures were taken to prevent the spread of the virus. Although they helped to control the spread of the disease, they caused certain disorders, psychological and temporomandibular, to affect an increasing part of the population. Objective: To describe and compare the impact of periods of mandatory confinement for causes related to SARS-CoV-2 infection on the health of individuals. Materials and methods: The target population of the study consisted of 3rd, 4th and 5th year students of the Integrated Master's Degree in Dental Medicine at the Faculdade de Medicina Dentária of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa in the 2021/2022 academic year. TMD symptoms, oral behaviors, anxiety and depression were assessed using validated questionnaires. The study was approved by the Ethics Committee for Health of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa. After data collection, they were transferred to an Excel file and then entered into SPSS® software. All tests were performed with a significance threshold of 95%. Results: 98.2% of the students answered the questionnaire. Temporomandibular disorders had a prevalence of 35%, and anxiety and depression 29% and 24%, respectively. The results showed that the female gender was the most affected by psychological and temporomandibular disorders. Conclusions: Statistically significant correlations were identified between variables such as gender and anxiety, depression and TMD, between anxiety, depression and TMD, and between performing oral behaviors, TMD and anxiety and depression. The variables such as age and academic degree do not establish a statistically significant relationship with TMD, oral behaviors, and the two psychological conditions.
