Abstract(s)
O objeto de estudo desta dissertação é uma pintura a óleo sobre tela – Virtudes, de datação e autor desconhecidos. Pertence à coleção do Museu da Santa Casa da Misericórdia do Porto (MMIPO). Através da observação da obra identificam-se as virtudes cardeais e teologais. A pintura foi estudada técnica e materialmente, através da recolha de amostras para preparação de cortes estratigráficos observados por meio de microscopia ótica e digital identificando o respetivo número de camadas, a sequência de sobreposição e as características morfológicas das partículas de pigmentos e cargas. Foi realizada a técnica analítica de SEM-EDS, visando caracterizar elementarmente os pigmentos, as cargas e a respetiva distribuição pelas camadas. Foi através da observação do estado de conservação da obra que foi determinado o tema de investigação deste caso de estudo face ao seu estado bastante frágil visível através do seu suporte. Neste caso de estudo foi imperativo considerar como metodologia de intervenção, o restabelecimento da estabilidade físico-química da obra, sendo possível recuperar a questão estética da mesma face aos problemas como rasgões e lacunas desprovendo a obra de uma leitura coesa. Tendo em conta a fragilidade do suporte, foi realizada uma planificação corrigindo todas as deformações apresentadas pelo mesmo. Como fator imprescindível foi realizada uma entretelagem reforçando dessa forma, a tela original. Foi igualmente realizado um levantamento bibliográfico dos sistemas de entretelagem a frio por nap-bond, sendo imperativa a identificação dos adesivos e métodos utilizados, sintetizando uma metodologia ideal a aplicar neste caso de estudo. Dessa forma foram preparados provetes à base de suporte semelhante ao da obra, onde foi aplicada, em diferentes espessuras, a uma emulsão acrílica com éter de celulose através de diferentes malhas de rede, verificando o tempo ideal para a união das telas e avaliando a eficácia de adesividade e reversibilidade.
The object of study of this dissertation is an oil painting on canvas – Virtues, of unknown date and author. It belongs to the collection of the Museu da Santa Casa da Misericórdia do Porto (MMIPO). Through the observation of the work, the cardinal and theological virtues are identified. The painting was studied technically and materially, through the collection of samples for the preparation of stratigraphic sections observed through optical and digital microscopy, identifying the respective number of layers, the sequence of overlap and the morphological characteristics of the pigment particles and fillers. The SEM-EDS analytical technique was performed, aiming to characterize the pigments, the fillers and their respective distribution in the layers. It was through the observation of the state of conservation of the work that the research theme of this case study was determined in view of its very fragile state visible through its support. In this case study, it was imperative to consider as an intervention methodology, the restoration of the physical-chemical stability of the work, being possible to recover the aesthetic question of the same in the face of problems such as tears and gaps, depriving the work of a cohesive reading. Considering the fragility of the support, a plan was carried out correcting all the deformations presented by it. As an essential factor, an interfacing was carried out, thus reinforcing the original canvas. A bibliographic survey of cold interlining systems by nap-bond was also carried out, being imperative to identify the adhesives and methods used, synthesizing an ideal methodology to be applied in this case study. In this way, specimens were prepared based on a support similar to that of the work, where an acrylic emulsion with cellulose ether was applied, in different thicknesses, through different meshes, verifying the ideal time for the union of the meshes and evaluating the effectiveness. of adhesion and reversibility.
