Abstract(s)
Cristo.
A função jurídica (forense) e didática (pedagógica) do Paráclito, presente no texto,
John 16,8-11 reveals that the Paraclete, through the believing community, pursues in the unbelieving "world" the recognition of Jesus Christ as the source of "eternal life", therefore showing that the Paraclete keeps the revelation of Christ present in the believing community (Church). The Paraclete's legal (forensic) and didactic (pedagogical) function, in the passage, consists in convincing the world of their sin and the respective consequences (justice and judgement) in order to free him from the slavery of sin, convincing him that incredulity in Jesus Christ (in which contemporary atheism is an example) manifests an inner disposition that deeply affects the salvific designs of God to mankind. The purpose of the Spirit is to illuminate and guide mankind, transformed by Himself, to the Truth, so mankind, by faith, is able to participate right now in the divine life (eternal life) through Christ.
