Abstract(s)
INTRODUCTION: The aesthetic appearance of restorations is a crucial factor for patients. The influence of the adhesive system on the restoration’s may have an impact on the final color of the restoration. The bulk fill resisns have simplified the restoration technique of posterior teeth. OBJECTIVES: The goal of this study is to determine the influence of different adhesive systems in the color change of bulk fill resins. MATERIALS AND METHODS: 120 composite resin disks were prepared with UD3 resin. These were divided into 4 groups: a control group without adhesive system and 3 study groups to which Clearfil Universal Bond (Kuraray, Japan), One Coat 7 universal (Colténe, Switzerland) and Futurabond U (Voco, Germany) adhesive systems were applied. 60 disks of composite resin were coupled with the bulk fill resin disks using the different adhesive systems. The color readings were made using a spectrophotometer (VITA Easyshade® Compact, Vita Zahnfabrik, Bad Säckingen, Germany). Afterwards, the study groups were placed in a dye solution. The results analysis was done using SPSS® v.24.0 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, IBM, EUA), a statistical analysis program. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: It was verified, through this study, that the adhesive system changes the color of the final restoration since there were significant changes between the groups. Furthermore, the Xtra-Fill resin is the most susceptible to color changes since it was the one that showed the biggest ΔE values, which can be explained due to its translucency. CONCLUSION: When translucent resins are applied, which is the case with bulk fill resins, it becomes necessary to pay special attention to the adhesive system used, always seeking restauration longevity improvements.
