Abstract(s)
trabalho remoto trouxe consigo.
With the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic raising constant challenges for companies and employees, it is pertinent to question whether there was an impact on corporate social responsibility practices, more specifically on employee engagement. Thus, we investigate the impact of CSR practices in the pharmaceutical industry in Portugal on the involvement of employees in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. After a theoretical framework of relevant notions for the subject of research, a study was conducted using a content analysis from CSR reports, websites and interviews with employees of four pharmaceutical companies in Portugal. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the pharmaceutical industry in Portugal has adapted its corporate social responsibility practices. This alteration was not necessarily through the creation of practices to deal with the effects of the pandemic, but rather translated into an adaptation of existing practices that make it possible to carry out previously defined corporate social responsibility actions in a pandemic context. At the level of employees, this change in practices was mainly reflected in the adjustment of companies to the new challenges to the well-being of the employee that the remote work model brought with it. However, these efforts towards being a responsible employer are not always accompanied by an increase in the range of CSR actions. In conclusion, although it is not possible to say that the change in corporate social responsibility practices had an impact on employee engagement, the present study provides clues about this relationship in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
