Abstract(s)

The objective of the present study was to explore the personal and relational factors that determine cannabis use, particularly highlighting the role of attitudes as predictors of adolescent abuse. Based on data collected under the CAPPYC project, the information was analyzed using the Cannabis Abuse Intention Questionnaire (CUIQ; Moriano et al.,2015), a questionnaire to collect data on the experience of ESPAD cannabis use (2011), the Cannabis Abuse Screening Test (Legleye, Karila, Beck, & Reynaud, 2007) and a sociodemographic questionnaire. The sample consisted of 428 participants, of which 90 (21.0%) were male and 336 (78.5%) were female, attending Humanistic and Professional Scientific Courses, 47.3% of the 10th grade, 32.3% of the 11th grade, and 20.4% of the 12th year. It was verified that in relation to the consumption according to the gender the results allow to verify that there are no significant differences in the majority of the dimensions. However, in the social norm were verified statistically significant differences, being the superior score among the boys. Regarding consumption and attitudes according to family variables, it was noticed that there were no significant differences. Regarding the consumption and attitudes according to the consumption of the pairs we have positive correlations with the intention, attitudes, social norm, self efficacy of the consumption and the CAST. Using the stepwise method, it was possible to find a significant model, which explains 33.9% of the variance of cannabis use from the predictors intention, consumption self-efficacy, social norm and self-efficacy of abstinence. The results are discussed in light of the existing literature, as well as its implications.
