Abstract(s)
Posteriormente, aborda a
Finalmente, comenta a
This report situates curatorship in the twenty-first century and presents data about the curatorial activity in museums, galleries and alternative spaces. It starts with a brief history of art, which is the subject, object and main focus of the curator. The following chapter discusses the relationship between culture and globalization, culture and economics, and examines the specificities of the cultural and creative industries. The curator works within the cultural and creative industries and must have the ability to create strategies in order to respond to the unpredictability of the market and to the public demands, a target increasingly aware, influenced by the information and communication technologies, as well as more demanding in its choices and expectations. It’s not easy to define the role of the curator once it spans a set of tasks involved in creating and organizing exhibitions. In general, the curator is responsible for selecting artists and works, presenting them, managing means of transportation, defining safety conditions, catalog editing, contacting with the press and for all the other details associated with the production of an exhibition. These tasks require, not only artistic know-how, but also management skills. Finally, this report looks at the history of Galeria Luís Serpa Projectos, which celebrates thirty years of activity in 2014, in a practical exercise, yet aware of its limitations.
