Abstract(s)
entrevistas a atores sociais chave.
Bullying, a term commonly used to describe acts of aggression that occur in the school context, differs from aggression in general in that it is a repetitive act, characterized by unequal levels of power between victim and aggressor. However, there are behaviors that can be identified as bullying that occur in a variety of contexts. This study identifies the incidence, characteristics and other variables underlying the existence of senior bullying among the institutionalized tenants of São José Retirement Home - Residential Structure For The Elderly (RSFE) of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Montalegre. We resorted to the implementation of a participant observation protocol, the heteroadministration of questionnaires, of sixty tenants, to evaluate their experiences as victims, bullies or bystanders and interviews conducted with key stakeholders. The results attest the existence of direct and indirect senior bullying. These findings are of great importance for practice and future research regarding the social dynamics involved in this phenomenon, as well as for the development of prevention programs and intervention strategies directed for senior bullying.
