Boavista no Porto.
situações complexas e imprevistas; possibilitou-me um enriquecimento
This report reflects the activities of the practical component inserted in the Course of Specialization in Medical-Surgical Nursing from the Institute of Health Sciences ministered by the Portuguese Catholic University, Beiras Regional Center. Module I was held in the period from May 12 2008 to July 05 2008, at the Emergency Service of HPP Boavista in Porto. Module II, from October 6 to November 20 2008, was developed in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at Pedro Hispano Hospital of Matosinhos . Module III, Internship of choice, was held in VMER, Coronary Intensive Care Unit and the Department of Cardiology, at S. Teotónio Hospital of Viseu, EPE in the period from November 2 2008 to February 30 2009. The general objective set for this internship was the development of scientific, technical and relational skills in order to approach to the critical patient in need of pre-hospital and hospital care, emphasizing heart patients in the module of choice. The experiences offered by this internship allowed me to acquire skills of planning and decision making in complex and unforeseen situations, enhance the capacity of reasoning and priority defining when addressing the critical patient and also improve the involvement and awareness of health care teams in order to optimize their performance. In this context I improved my performance in technical, scientific and relational aspects in the various stages of the process which includes the path taken by the critical patient from stabilizing and transporting in pre-hospital environment, approaching in the emergency service context and maintaining clinical status when admitted in an intensive care unit
