Abstract(s)
no contexto organizacional.
entrevistas, a quatro líderes e seis liderados.
liderados.
The present dissertation intends to understand the professional relations between leaders and subordinates in organizations. It proposes a reflection about the emotions in the leadership and how the emotions of the members of a professional team influence the communication practices of a leader. For this, we conceptualize leadership theories, analyse communication practices in each of them and the importance of the leader /subordinates relationship, identify what emotions are and how they translate into emotional intelligence in the organizational context. Emotional intelligence is thus the ability to: recognize one's emotions; managing and controlling emotions and impulses; motivate ourselves, meaning, use our emotions to achieve our goals; recognize the emotions of others, be sensitive to what others are feeling, through self-awareness; and manage relationships. The methodology used is qualitative and was carried out through ten interviews, to four leaders and six subordinates. The data collected allowed to evaluate how relationships between leaders and subordinates in organizations are developed. In the case of leaders, the goal was to understand how they describe their leadership, and their relationship with their team. To the subordinates was asked for a reflection on the leadership of their leaders and on the relationships between peers. We conclude that the emotional dynamics of a professional team has a direct impact on the functioning of the organization. People with developed levels of emotional intelligence, such as knowledge of themselves, and recognition of others’ emotions, are more favourable to adapt their communication to each emotion of their peers.
