The debate between printed and digital books has influenced the publishing industry for decades. Many consider that traditional books are falling into disuse, while others argue that their symbolic, aesthetic and sensory value is timeless and unshakeable. In order to understand this divergence, the history of the book will be analyzed, from its creation, evolutionary process and digitization, as well as the current functioning of the book market. From the historical approach to practical observation, supported by an internship at an architectural book publisher, Danish Architectural Press, in Copenhagen, conclusions will be drawn about the future of paper, the publishing industry and, at the same time, the book will be analyzed not only as a reading medium, but also as an aesthetic and even luxury object.
