Abstract(s)

The main conclusion of the study relates to the lack of differences between genders, regarding the entry or permanence of the participants in leadership positions in prisons. Instead, the participants highlight the need for having a profile or a set of characteristics to perform leadership in prison, that does not depend on being a man or a woman. Despite the stigma still associated with women who intend to assume leadership positions, according to the participants in our study, such a discrepancy does not occur in the current prison system.
