Abstract(s)
A resposta Ă© NĂŁo!
Should palliative care/accompaniment be the answer against euthanasia? The answer is no! Palliative care is an answer among many other responses in health care. Palliative care has its specificity in situations in incurable disease or end of life. They can never be an answer against euthanasia, but a service for those who need it. There was a time when the doctor could do little for people who became ill and they died. Now, we see that times have changed and today the doctor is no longer at the bedside of the patient who is dying. It is urgent to cultivate, in actual medical and nursing practice, a different look at the sick person. Euthanasia is, in its false legal shape, the strongest expression of the culture of death. Palliative care-accompaniment, as a loving and humanistic relational experience. They are the most human flowering of the culture of life, since no one asks to die, but to stop suffering.
