Abstract(s)
O acolhimento residencial constitui uma medida que visa salvaguardar os direitos de
crianças e jovens em risco. Esta investigação centra-se nas histórias de vida de duas
jovens adultas, ex-institucionalizadas, permitindo analisar o percurso desde o momento
em que integraram na instituição até ao momento em que cessaram a medida e transitaram
para a vida autónoma. Com o objetivo de identificar os fatores diferenciadores que
tenham facilitado ou dificultado a concretização do projeto de vida, foi realizado um
estudo qualitativo seguindo a abordagem de estudo de caso instrumental. Para tal, foram
aplicadas entrevistas semiestruturadas e questionários sociodemográficos às jovens e à
técnica que acompanhou ambos os processos.
Os resultados obtidos sugerem uma apreciação geralmente positiva na consolidação de
competências de autonomia, sobretudo de gestão doméstica. Contudo, são identificadas
competências a aperfeiçoar como a gestão relacional e económica. Entre as limitações da
intervenção, surge o limite temporal da medida de acolhimento. Relativamente ao
acompanhamento pós-institucional, compreende-se que a instituição realiza um
acompanhamento informal durante o processo de integração social das jovens. O processo
de desinstitucionalização das jovens e sua subsequente integração social continua a
representar um desafio, possivelmente em virtude da inexistência de respostas e apoios
eficazes no período pós-acolhimento.
Residential care is a measure that aims to safeguard the rights of children and young people at risk. This investigation focuses on the life stories of two young adults, exinstitutionalized, allowing to analyze the path from the moment they joined the institution until the moment when the measure ceased and they moved on to autonomous life. In order to identify the differentiating factors that have facilitated or hindered the realization of the life project, a qualitative study was carried out following the instrumental case study approach.To this end, semi-structured interviews and sociodemographic questionnaires were applied to the young adults and the technician who accompany these processes. The results suggest an generally positive appreciation about the consolidation of autonomy skills, mainly at the domestic management level. However, there have been identified some skills that required further improvement, notably at the level of relational and economic management. Amongst the limitations of intervention arises the temporal limitation of the residential care. Regarding the post-institution follow-up, the institution under study does an informal accompaniment throughout the process of social integration of the two young adults. The process of deinstitutionalization of the young adults and their subsequent integration in the community continues to pose a challenge, possibly due to the nonexistence of answers and solid support, that is effective in the post-residential care period.
