The present study aimed to analyze parental involvement in youth football, considering young athletes’ perceptions and parents’ self-assessments. Specifically, it sought to examine differences according to athletes’ competitive level, compare athletes’ perceptions of paternal and maternal involvement, and analyse parental self-assessment. A quantitative, cross-sectional, descriptive-comparative design was adopted. The sample included 220 football players aged between 10 and 16 years and 462 parents. The results indicated higher levels of parental support and lower levels of pressure for performance. Regarding competitive level, significant differences were found in maternal technical influence, perceived as higher by Football 9 athletes, and in competitive involvement, reported as more frequent by parents of Football 9 athletes. In the comparison between father and mother, athletes perceived fathers as more involved across all dimensions assessed by the QCPD. In the parental self-assessment, fathers reported higher scores than mothers in competitive involvement, technical influence, and expectations regarding the future. These findings highlight differences associated with competitive level in specific dimensions, as well as differences between paternal and maternal involvement in youth football, reinforcing the importance of considering both parental figures in supporting young athletes’ sporting development.
