| dc.description.abstract | O presente relatório consiste na descrição e análise crítica do projeto desenvolvido ao longo do segundo ano do Mestrado de Som e Imagem com especialização em Animação por Computador da Escola das Artes da Universidade Católica Portuguesa. O projeto Petals Away consistiu na realização de uma curta-metragem de animação digital, por Inês Russell Pinto, com colaborações externas para realização da banda-sonora e pintura digital. Ao longo deste relatório todos os processos de produção são meticulosamente descritos e analisados, bem como as referências e inspirações que levaram ao nascimento do projeto. Numa parte inicial são explicados os objetivos e motivações que levaram à criação do projeto, passando depois para a explicação da abordagem e tratamento do projeto em si. Seguidamente é descrito todo o historial de produção, terminando por último com uma análise crítica dos resultados finais obtidos. Neste relatório foram também explorados todos os papéis necessários numa equipa de produção de animação, e de como a sua dinâmica e comunicação varia quando estes são realizados por apenas uma pessoa. Foram especialmente estudados os papéis de pré-produção, nomeadamente o concept art, character design e background design, como forma de expandir os conhecimentos pessoais nestas matérias e criar um portfólio profissional na área. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | The present report compacts the description and critical analysis of the academic project developed during the second year of the Master’s degree in computer animation of the School of Arts at the Portuguese Catholic University. The project Petals Away consisted in the making of a digitally animated short film by Inês Russell Pinto, with external collaborations regarding the soundtrack development and frame coloring. Throughout this report all the production process is narrowly described and analyzed, as well as the references and inspirations that helped bring this project to fruition. In an early phase of the report the objectives and motivation of the project are explained, followed by their approach and treatment. After that, the production of the short film is thoroughly described and lastly we go through a critical analysis of the end results. In this report were also explored the different roles of a 2D animation production team and how their dynamic changes when the team consists of only one person. It was paid special attention to the pro-production roles, such as concept art, character design and background design, as a way to expand the knowledge in these particular fields and to create a professional portfolio in these areas. | pt_PT |
