Este estudo insere-se no projeto de investigação, intitulado de “Economic Hardship, parenting role and child behaviour problems”, integrado no Centro de Investigação para o Desenvolvimento Humano (CEDH). O objetivo deste estudo foi o de analisar a relação entre a situação económica do agregado familiar, o funcionamento familiar global e a dependência digital em jovens adultos entre os 18 e os 25 anos. Foi administrado um inquérito online, que incluiu um questionário sociodemográfico, questões para avaliar a situação económica, a escala do funcionamento familiar global do Family Assessment Device e o Internet Addiction Test. Este inquérito foi aplicado a 108 jovens adultos de diferentes zonas do país. Na análise de dados, foram testadas as associações e diferenças entre a situação económica, o funcionamento familiar e a dependência digital. Os dados foram analisados com recurso ao Statistical Package for the Social Sciences da IBM. Não foram encontradas associações entre a dependência digital e o funcionamento familiar global. Também não foram encontradas associações entre a situação económica e a dependência digital. Contudo, foi possível observar uma associação positiva, entre o género feminino e o funcionamento familiar saudável, e uma associação positiva entre a perceção do nível socioeconómico baixo e um funcionamento familiar global problemático.

An online survey was administered, which included a sociodemographic questionnaire, questions to assess economic status, the Family Assessment Device global family functioning scale, and the Internet Addiction Test. This survey was administered to 108 young adults from different areas of the country. In the data analysis, associations and differences between economic status, family functioning and digital addiction were tested. The data were analyzed using IBM's Statistical Package for the Social Sciences. No associations were found between digital dependence and overall family functioning. Likewise, no associations were found between economic status and digital dependence. However, it was possible to observe a positive association between female gender and healthy family functioning, and a positive association between perceived low socioeconomic status and overall problematic family functioning.
